Can I be honest? I'm not sure why you want to tailor your blog to the interests of your readers. I think, in reality, that the blogs that are most successful, are the ones that readers connect to because the blogger writes so well about her own interests that readers find them interesting, too. Does that make sense? If you like to read, play golf, and garden, write about that stuff. If you want to write about nursing, do that.
I'm not sure that's what you want to hear, but I personally would rather read about YOUR life than what you think I want to read.
Hmmm...I have to agree...a blog is successful because you can feel the passion of the blogger. You ultimately need to write for YOU. I was pushed for ages by my brother-in-law who got me started to "do this" & "do that"...I chose to ignore him & write for me, & now he doesn't tell me squat anymore because in 6 mnths I've garnered a decent following. If it's not enjoyable for me, then I don't want to do it!! If your goal is to monetize, as I hope to some day, then you need to create a good balance...I can't be bothered with so called blogs that are just one big ad, I want to read people's stories & life experiences. Hope that helps!!
Write about what you like! You know that saying, "success starts with doing what you love"? Well, there you go. I like youe blog as it is. If people don't like it, too bad for them. There are millions of readers out there--you'll find your following. Just stay true.

ReplyDeleteI agree with everything the ladies stated above. Stay true to yourself.
ReplyDeleteAgreed with the above - we'd rather be surprised by your blog, than get something catered to us (unless you are catering delicious snacks of course ;)
