Resolutions!

Ah, the time of year for resolutions.  Anybody excited? Anyone plan to keep them long term?  I make resolutions every year, but sadly, they usually don't seem to last long term.  Whether it is lack of will power, issues of daily life, or what have you, they quietly fade away.  They usually (on a good year) last until the end of January.

So, that said, what horrible traits can I remedy this year?  I think I will work on maintaining my cool and not letting school, home, & family responsibilities get the best of me.  Wish me luck!!

What is your resolution for 2011?  Do you often make a resolution and not keep it?  What is the longest you have kept a New Years resolution?  What is your most often chosen New Years resolution?  What do you think about New Years resolutions?

Family emergency

Sorry for my absence.  Been busy, busy.  My father-in-law who has suffered from Alzheimer's has declined and is in the dying process.  We are leaving today to travel to IN (10-12 hr drive).  The family would welcome your prayers.

Thankful Thursday

Stole this idea from Mrs. B. @ Who I Am (http://tinyurl.com/2dj33sm)

Things I am thankful for:

  • Aspie meltdown averted in a semi-public place
  • The start of school & some type of routine
  • The generic ~ God, family, friends, wisdom, & good health. Seriously thankful for all of these :)
What do you have to be thankful for this week??

Tuesday Terror

OK, spoiler right up front: this post has nothing to do with motherhood, family, special needs, or anything else I generally post about. If that's why you are here, dear reader, please leave before I share this terrifying tale.

OK, you're still here?? Don't say I didn't warn you!!

The summer semester started yesterday @ MSU, where I am currently working on my degree. Nothing inherently terrifying about that, you may say. Well, it is for me!! Guess what I am taking... basket weaving, beginning pottery, cooking for Dummies? While any or all of those might be helpful in improving my woefully inadequate domestic skills, those are not the class that inspires fear in the heart of grad students everywhere.

The class is PSY 527, a.k.a. Multivariate Statistics. For those of you who know something about stats, you may think this is no big deal. You are wrong!! This class is required so grad level students can compile & understand their own statistical data used for their thesis or dissertation. Guess what, we don't want to understand!! If we did, we would be math majors. That is why there are thriving companies for hire.
Anyway, I digress. The primary reason for my chest-tightening, nausea-inducing anxiety is that this will be the FOURTH time I have attempted it.
In fact, my utter lack of ability to grasp these concepts prompted me to undergo testing to see if I have a math learning disability (jury is still out on that, should know soon).

If there are any stats whizzes out there, please give me a holler!! Otherwise, see you on the other side ... hopefully.

Blogging Blitzkrieg

I joined Blogging Moms (bloggingmoms.com) to get some help in getting this blog off the ground. Great site!! Have found out how to add some things. You can check out my page if you like (http://www.bloggymoms.com/tammypatrick). So, slowly but surely, this blog may be something worth looking at!!

In other news, a mom allowed her 7-8 yr old girl to bring a LIVE RABBIT into a convenience store! This prompted 2 questions: has the woman never heard of health codes & why is her child not in school?? Welcome to SWMO, as my Hoosier DH would say "Rednecks R Us", lol.

My Aspie had a good day, aside from LOTS of touching others (non-aggresive, thank the Lord)!! We started a new reward system using an iPhone app called iReward, so far, so good; stay tuned, I will post a review @ a later date. Speaking of my little Aspie, time for dreamland. Later ...

Bridging Ceremony

Becca's Bridging Ceremony to transition from Daisy Scout to Brownie was tonight. The weather was lovely, but a bit cool. The ceremony was held outside since this was the first day it hasn't rained in about a week. Everyone did a great job!! Becca was a bit goofy, but overall did well. Then smores followed!! Sticky, but fun. Pics to follow, experiencing technical difficulties. Grr ...
